According to new research published in the January edition of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, our facial bone structure may be what makes us look older.

We all know that facial wrinkles and saggy skin are associated with making us look older. However new research has shown that the bones in the face may change over time and contribute to us looking older.

The rising trend of the ‘Youth Jab’

Some people will go to any length in order to stay looking younger for longer – and the so-called ‘Youth Jab’ is just one example.

The latest trend is for somatropin (also known as Genotropin) to be taken with many devotees claiming that it’s wonderful for the skin and hair – skin is said to become firmer and brighter and hair is said to become thicker. Users also claim that they sleep better and have more energy, and some even go as far as to claim that it reduces body fat and increases muscle mass.

The Secrets of Wrinkles Revealed?

Researchers are looking at the human genome to discover what genes cause wrinkles and therefore help them develop more effective lotions and creams to help stop the ageing process in the future.

Using data from the human genome project, a team of scientists led by Procter & Gamble have found approximately 1,500 genes that govern wrinkles. The team also believe that they have pinpointed either major causes of aging skin.

Cancer Cream Efudix Helps Erase Wrinkles

Efudix, a cream which is used to treat the early signs of skin cancer, is claimed to also be able to erase wrinkles in the skin and help patients look younger.

Ever since Efudix has been used there has been anecdotal evidence about it’s anti-ageing properties. Researchers from the University of Michigan decided to study Efudix in an attempt to discover whether the cream did actually hold anti-wrinkle properties or not.

Boots Anti-Aging Serum Proven to Reduce Wrinkles

British women have been rushing out to buy Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum after clinical trials showed that the product could reduce wrinkles and improve the appearance of skin damaged by the sun.

Researchers at the University of Manchester carries out a clinical trial on 60 volunteers to determine how effective the product was. The results showed that 70% of people had significantly fewer wrinkles after 12 months of daily use compared to those given a placebo.

Anti-Aging Perfume Released

The World’s first “Anti-Age” perfume has been released. New York based Harvey Prince Co. have created a perfume which they claim can make a women appear up to eight years younger thanks to her smell alone.

It is well known that smells can leave a lasting impression. With their perfume, ‘Ageless Fantasy’, Harvey Prince Co. conducted trials with 75 men to determine which smells were most associated with youthfulness. Grapefruit and mango featured highly and are key ingredients of the anti-aging perfume and the fragrance is said to be exciting, energizing and uplifting and makes the wearer feel younger and make others believe she is younger.
