‘Boytox’: The rise of the male Botox patient.
Cosmetic surgery is often seen as a women’s interest however in the UK at least, more and more men are starting to take a greater interest in their appearance.
Almost one in five Botox patients in the UK are now said to be male. The trend is mainly down to two influences – the tough job market where personal appearance can make or break an interview, and the fact that more and more male celebrities (such as Simon Cowell and Gordon Ramsay) are coming clean about their cosmetic treatments.

Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures on the market. But has the Botox backlash begun?
Despite it’s popularity, celebrity Botox regulars are starting to turn their backs on the face freezing injections.
First, Lulu and Amanda Holden announced that they were no longer going to have Botox injections. Then, Dannii Minogue followed suit after some X-Factor viewers commented that in last year’s series, her face was almost immovable and expressionless.

Could this be the end of hair straighteners? Researchers believe that they have isolated the gene responsible for curly hair and are hoping that they can create a pill to make your hair straighter or curlier without the need for expensive hair accesories.
Australian scientists have recently discovered that the trichohyalin gene is mainly responsible for creating curls in hair. It is hoped that the discovery will not just be a boon to the beauty industry but will also help police forensics – hair and DNA found at scenes of crime may indicate what sort of hair the suspects have.
