Superdrug, who are the UK’s second largest health & beauty high street retailer, are the only high street chain to offer cosmetic treatments. There are a range of treatments available – from eyebrow threading to manicures, anti-wrinkle injections to lip volumisers, leg thread vein removal to chemical peels.

Designer Von Furstenberg Denies Cosmetic Surgery

Top designer Diane von Furstenberg has denied having had cosmetic surgery following her recent skiing accident in France.

Von Furstenberg was on holiday in Aspen last month when another skiier crashed into her hitting her badly on her face and ribs with a camera. She is reported to have suffered a broken nose and some light facial fractures.

Talking to the New York Daily News she commented, “If I ever had any desire to have plastic surgery, I know for sure now, I would not want it.

SimplyCosmeticSurgery.com commissioned a poll to discover whether people were proud of their plastic surgery or whether they hid the fact they had been under the knife from their friends. The poll revealed that a whopping 66pc of people didn’t want people to know that they had had work done. Just 22pc of people were proud to tell others that they had had surgery, with the remainder telling some friends but not others.

Breast implants could cause cancer

A new side effect has been found in breast augmentations. According to new research, having a breast augmentation increases the risk of a rare cancer called anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL).

Research has shown that as many as 60 women out of the 5-10 million who have had breast implants worldwide have developed ALCL. This compares to the normal rate of around 3 women in 100 million.

Injections To Banish Wobbly Chins

Scientists have created a new treatment which looks set to banish wobbly chins forever.

But now scientists say they have developed the first drug that targets the fat deposits which are so visible.

Researchers at German firm Bayer have created a new treatment called ATX-101. ATX-101 is injected into small areas of fat using between 40 and 70 mini injections which help dissolve small volumes of fat cells. The procedure is aimed at reducing the fat under the chin and early tests are promising.
